Voss Motorsports won their first ever trick race one year ago at the Silver State
300. Two years ago was their first ever trick truck race when they caught fire while
leading the Silver State 300. Voss Motorsports knew what it takes to win this race
and they were prepared to give it all that they had. The race course consists of
a lot of real fast and dusty rally style roads, so starting position makes a huge
difference. The #35 Voss Motorsports trick truck qualified 5th overall and 3rd in
trick truck. Rob Maccachren qualified 2nd in the #6 Corona extra truck only three
tenths of a second faster than Jason Voss in the #35 trick truck.
Race day came and the #35 trick truck was on a mission. Jason worked his way
up through the field passing Rob Maccachren only roughly 28 miles into the race.
Jason kept charging hard and could see BJ Baldwin’s dust just in front of them.
Unfortunately an engine oil hose had developed a hole in the line and forced the
#35 truck to pull over to repair it. After being broken down for around 45 minutes
Jason and Co-pilot James East were able to repair the leak, but by this time were
too far back to compete for the win. Jason and James continued on and had to
settle for a 11th place finish.
Voss Motorsports would like to thank General Tire, Jimco Racing, KC HiLites,
TrailReady Beadlocks, Mastercraft and Fox Racing Shox for all of their support.
